    Wider Opportunities

    Developing Wider Opportunities

At Springfield Junior School we are always striving to provide a rounded curriculum full of memorable experiences for all our children, ensuring that the rich and varied opportunities support their personal development, as well as enhance the academic curriculum. Staff take great care in planning how to create these experiences and in making them relevant to their learning. We provide many opportunities for our children to participate in, from using our school grounds, our local area, hosting workshops and visitors or planning trips. We are always looking at different destinations to allow our children to experience a range of different activities.

    Residentials

Our residentials create unique opportunities for the children to explore, grow and revel in the great outdoors. They engage students with real, hands-on experiences and extraordinary learning opportunities in the most inspiring and spectacular locations.

Children and staff work with experts in their fields, taking part in a range of fully accessible trip options including hiking, night walks, compass and map skills, team building and orienteering.

    Young Voices and Choir

Every January, we take a group of pupils to join a 6000+ strong choir to sing at the Genting Arena in Birmingham. It’s an amazing event for which we start rehearsing in September. Once the event is over, the choir continues, and we learn songs for local performances and our end of year whole school production.

    Sports

At Springfield we really value the importance of all pupils being able to access a wide range of sports both within and outside of PE lessons. We offer lunchtime and afterschool clubs delivered by our own staff and SH Active Sports. Some of the clubs offered so far this year include gymnastics, archery, zorbing, laser tag, netball, football, dodgeball, martial arts and mini trampolining.

We also encourage our pupils to represent Springfield for sport competing against other schools in the area. So far this year we’ve taken children from all year groups to a variety of events. Our pupils have not only demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship but have also performed exceptionally well with many teams qualifying for finals as well as finishing in the top 3.
